It was a pretty good day yesterday (today, really, but datewise yesterday), as was the day before, for the most part. I got up fairly early, took a walk, fiddled around on the keyboard and guitar, took another walk with my neighbor, and caught the Mardi Gras parade downtown (yet more walking, as I parked well away from the action). Then more fiddling around (though not on the fiddle, which was neglected today), and off to the Blues Cafe, where Linda threw Gary a surprise birthday party (and treated everyone to dinner; you rock, Linda). I had etoufee; not one of my favorite dishes, usually, but it seemed to go with the whole Mardi Gras thing. All in all it was a pretty fine Gulf Coast-style day. Then I stopped by Glenn and Therese’s and visited with them for a while. On top of it all, the laptop battery I ordered on eBay came in today. It’s unused, it seems, although it must be pretty old. The Toshiba Satellite it’s going in is a 486 with DOS and Windows 3.1 (though it will likely wind up with some flavor of Linux if this battery pans out; it’s charging now). Even though the laptop is ancient, it has a great keyboard, and so it will be, I hope, a nifty little word processor, something to plug away with while I wait for my clothes to wash, or whatever. I hope it works; I’ve been wanting this for some time. We’ll see.
So, yeah, it was a pretty good day, and Friday was too, for the most part, since I got some business off my back that had been bugging me for weeks. The only downside was that Friday evening I got kind of depressed. I think a lot of that had to do with not getting enough sleep the night before; and since I’m feeling kind of blue tonight too, and I’m also kind of sleepy, I’m going to bed.
